We leave Irkutsk tonight after 2 nights at Lake Baikal and 1 night in Irkutsk city. The village we stayed at had a population of 600 and Irkutsk has 600,000. Very Russian...

Hi Andrew & Kath,

Your trip sounds great so far...

I saw that you've got 4 days in Krakow. The Wawel and old city are well worth seeing (if you like old European castles). While there you could also make a trip to the Wieliczka saltmine which is pretty spectacular and could take a trip up to Zakopane, though it would take a while to get there. Just some thoughts...

Hope the rest of your journey goes well.

Well, just catching up with all you've done in the past week.Sounds extremely interesting. The photos are good stuff, eh cattle, the dog - I thought that could be a supplement to Andrew being in the lake so slippery and shallow and cold!! Eagely waiting to hear about Moscow. The Mongolians on the train sounds interesting, have to tell me more about them when you get back. Take care and enjoy life!!!
